I was born in 1955 in Dordrecht, The Netherlands. After four years of middle technical general education I went to the Artistic School for gold and .. smith in Schoonhoven, the most famous school of the country. Ever since 1980 I have had exhibitions of my jewelry en I debuted with my paintings at GWK in Brussels (Belgium) in 1990. Concerning my painting I never followed any course: I am a full autodidact. After my education in Schoonhoven I worked two years as a pupil at Juhls in Kautokeino in Norway. In 1980 I opened my own shop and workshop in Veere in the south west of the Netherlands. In the mean time I met my wife in Norway, we got married and started a family. In 1994 we settled in Norway on the isle of Andøy on the Vesterålen, north from the Lofoten in the northern part of Norway. I became a co-owner of 'Galleri Bølgeblikk' (wave view) until 2002. Then I became the only owner and from 2008 under the name of Galleri Dick Monshouwer. The gallery is situated in the small town of Risøyhamn right across the quay where the Hurtigrut – the cruise boat company – lands. I make several kinds of jewelry: necklaces with or without a pendant, rings, ear rings and brouches. Take a look in the pictures further on my website.
